Born and raised in Sherborne and the surrounding area, owner Jane Wood returned to live here in 2009 with a maths degree, seven years of corporate work experience and a well stamped passport. After spending a couple of years working in a bar, tutoring maths and helping to run a mail order gift business she jumped at the chance to buy Oliver’s when previous owner, Lawrence Scott, retired in 2011.

The overwhelming sentiment from regular customers Jane met in her first few weeks was that they didn’t want anything to change and many visitors who return after many years still comment that it’s exactly how they remember it.
Jane’s focus has been on working with other local businesses to source as many ingredients and products as possible within a few miles. This in turn supports a vibrant local community where businesses support local events and money stays in the local economy.
